Educators contribute to the profession.

While I am still learning to be a teacher I have felt that I haven’t yet contributed to the profession much. Right now I am contributing to the profession by becoming a teacher and getting my degree. However, once I have obtained my teaching degree and begin teaching I plan on contributing to the profession by using the coaching skills I have developed over the last several years. I have been a waterski coach for several years and have always thought coaching was something very rewarding and a way I could contribute further as an educator. I, myself, started as one of these athletes and feel this experience has allowed me to see both sides of the coach/athlete relationship. This perspective has developed my interpersonal skills with youth and enhanced my skills as a coach. I hope to coach a school sports team and offer my coaching skills through my teaching platform. I feel that my skills as a coach both in and out of the school would be contributing to my profession as an educator.
